Wow! - what a great way to end the year!
From May 27th-30th our competitive swimmers competed in the Ontario Age Group Championships. This is our provincial competition, what we work all year towards. It was a long weekend, but very exciting. All of the hard work and dedication of the girls was obvious in their amazing performances.
On Friday our athletes participated in the individual figures events. Special mention goes to our 14 year old swimmers, Caitlin Bate placed 4th, Meagan Austin 5th, and Vered Krukovsky 6th! Our teams placed in the top half in figures, giving them an advantage leading into our routine events.
Saturday was the preliminary event for our 11-12 team. There were 23 teams competing in this age category and only 10 would move onto finals. Our girls had a very good prelims swim and made it to finals on Sunday.
Sunday was the most exciting day of the entire weekend as it was the finals for all of the team routines. Our combo team started us off first thing in the morning with their best run through of the season, taking first place, making them the Provincial Champions! The girls continued to be successful throughout the day, our 11-12 team was fifth and our 13-15 team was second. Each of our routines placed, quite an accomplishment!
The coaches and parents are extrememly proud of the swimmers, congratulations on an amazing 2009-2010 synchro season!
Our routines will be swum one more time at the watershow on Thursday, June 10th from 7:00-8:30pm at Markham Centennial Pool, admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children. If you are interested in trying synchro you can also register for our 2010-2011 season that evening from 5:30-7:00pm.
