On May 29th-June 1st our competitive swimmers attended the Ontario Tier Championships. 

This meet features swimmers from across the province, a little over 500 athletes competed!  This was a great meet for our swimmers, the teams had excellent final swims and met their competition goals.

For our Tier 1 swimmers this was the first time that they had attended a meet of this size, we were impressed by their focus and determination in the figures events.  Our Tier 2 swimmers easily met their goals of placing in the top 50%, out of 160 competitors Sarah placed 66th, Bella placed 41st, and Catalina placed 16th- this was the first year for these girls swimming these figures, great work girls!
 
The Tier 1 team of Bella, Sarah, Catalina, Carolina, Alyssa, Lavonna, and Michelle had an amazing swim in prelims- they placed first in routine score and overall the team placed fifth in Ontario!
 
Our Tier 3 and 4 swimmers have had an eventful year.  They really pulled together for the tier championships, everyone did a very good job on their figures and Constanza placed 5th in the Tier 3 figures event!  The team had a good prelims swim and made it into finals where they had an even better performance and moved up to 8th place- way to go girls!
 
Our Tier 6 soloist- Daniella Lato placed 5th in figures and 4th in solo.  This was Daniella's first year in Tier 6 and her first year swimming a solo.  Daniella also was recently offered a spot on Team Ontario's 13-15 team, she will be representing both Markham Synchro and Synchro Ontario at several events this summer, congratulations on earning such an honor Daniella!
 
Our Tier 6 combo team has been swimming together for several years and as always it has been a year full of laughs with them- this year they got to be true clowns!  They definitely put everything they had into this last competition.  Tier Champs was by far their best swim of the season and they took home the Provincial title!

Our Tier 8 soloist Melanie Wong had a great figures and an amazing solo swim- she placed 1st in her figures division and 2nd overall in the solo event.
 
What an impressive meet for all of our athletes!
 
We capped off our season with our annual watershow, it was great to see all of the friends and family members out to cheer us on as we did our very last performances of the year.  Thank-you to everyone who attended!
 
We are looking forward to a nice summer and are excited about the 2008-2009 season already!
 
If you are interested in synchronized swimming you can come out and join our summer synchro program, it is open to brand new swimmers, the only pre-requisite is comfort in the deep end.  This program is highly reccommended for anyone who wants to try out for the competitive program in the fall, however, even beginners can join a competitive team.  If you are interested come on out to the pool for a visit!
